In The Storms of This Life

In this world we will go through a storm at some point. Whether it be a small or large storm is uncertain. That storm can be anything that is difficult for you to handle.

I learned recently that while in the storms of this life the waves outside of your "boat" (self) may be crashing, pushing, pulling, swaying you, freezing, uncomfortable, scary and frightening (that all being life events).

And that gives us 2 options:

We can lay down in our boat & wait (pray)
 OR
we can paddle harder.

What will you choose to do?

And some of the time all we can do is wait, give it to God and trust in Him. And that is a hard thing to do sometimes because we want to try to be strong on our own and do something. But, I promise it is easier to just give it to God right away. I've learned firsthand that doing that is the best way and I'm still learning and working on it. And there is a time to walk in the direction God is leading you.

I am reminded of Matthew 8:23-27. When the disciples were in the boat with Jesus while the storm was brewing Jesus was sleeping. The disciples were all scared and nervous. They shouted for Him to save them. Jesus replied: "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" He then got up and stopped the storm. And the disciples were amazed!

It's not whether we face a storm in this life it is HOW we will respond to the storms. If we can manage to trust in our God and His lead...the crashing waves will be much more bearable.

Promise.

"I will praise you in the storm" (By: Casting Crowns) is such a great song!

I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus:]
And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
And you raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You

But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus]

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

[Chorus x2]
Sincerely,
Jamie :)
